Adon Olam 04:29
The Lord of the Universe who reigned before anything was created. When all was made by his will He was acknowledged as King. And when all shall end He still all alone shall reign. He was, He is, and He shall be in glory. And He is one, and there's no other, to compare or join Him. Without beginning, without end and to Him belongs dominion and power. And He is my G-d, my living G-d. to Him I flee in time of grief, and He is my miracle and my refuge, who answers the day I shall call. To Him I commend my spirit, in the time of sleep and awakening, even if my spirit leaves, G-d is with me, I shall not fear.

Atah Gibor 04:33
You are eternally mighty, my Lord, the Resuscitator of the dead are You; abundantly able to save. Who sustains the living with kindness, resuscitates the dead with abundant mercy, supports the fallen, heals the sick, releases the confined, and maintains His faith to those asleep in the dust. Who is like You, 0 Master of mighty deeds, and who is comparable to You, 0 King Who causes death and restores life and makes salvation sprout!

in the fire, in the fire, and i'm thrown before Your fire i got no home but for Your fire in the fire, in the fire, in the fire, in the fire, in the fire, and i'm tangled in Your fire, and what glows but for Your fire, in the fire, in the fire צָמְאָה נַפְשִׁי, לֵאלֹהִים-- לְאֵל חָי as a deer cries for brooks of water, so my soul cries for You, God. my soul thirsts for God, for the living God!

Min Hametzar 03:56
From the narrow place I called out 'Ya!' I was answered with expansiveness. Hashem is with me, I will not fear; what can humans do to me?

about

All tracks feature words of prayer from Jewish liturgy, and were mostly composed and recorded spring, summer and winter 2020-- except for 'In the Fire (Tzama Nafshi)', which includes original English lyrics and was composed in 2011.

All music performed by Ben Lorber except for violin on 'Hashkiveinu', 'Shema' and 'Ha Meir La'Aretz', performed by Rachel Leader

Album art: 'Ribono Shel Olam', a painting by Kate Lorber, my grandmother, of my great-grandfather (who I was named after), made in 1956.

Rebbe Nachman of Breslov teaches that each person has a 'Nekudah Tovah', a point or drop of goodness, within them, and that our work in the world is to connect to the Nekudah Tovah within ourselves and within others. Nekudah Tovah is also the name of a very special encampment of souls in Uman, Ukraine, by Rebbe Nachman's grave, where I had the merit of staying for Rosh Hoshanah 5780/2019.
